Cummins Fuel Water Separators
A spin-on fuel water separator listed for Cummins B6.7 and L9 engines. It removes water and particulate ahead of the final-stage fuel filter — not the filter beside it. Confirm the stage, housing interface and old number before ordering.
The FS1098 is a spin-on separator with StrataPore media, Fleetguard’s multi-layer synthetic composite. Water coalesces in the housing bowl, where the drain removes it before fuel reaches the final-stage filter. Listings give 229 mm height and 120 mm outside diameter.
A separator is not a fuel filter. It takes out water and coarse particulate; the final-stage element protects the injectors. Both are sold as fuel filters, which is how the wrong one gets ordered. Cummins fuel filters covers the other stage.
Provide the engine maker, model and full serial or build number. The model name alone does not confirm fitment.
Confirm the installed position: this is the water separator, not the final-stage fuel filter beside it. Check the filter head and whether a final-stage element sits downstream.
Send the full number printed on the removed element, including any suffix, and note whether it superseded FS20038. If the records disagree, send all of them for review.
Published fields for the FS1098 separator. Values are as listed for the Cummins B6.7 and L9 applications; confirm the housing interface and the old part number before ordering.

Fitment follows the engine build and the filter head, not the model year. The listings are leads, not fitment claims. The housing named most often is FH21462; some listings also give FH143 and FH21464, so read the head.
A matching thread or diameter does not confirm media, water separation or sensor fitment. Where records disagree, send both. Filter lookup helps when the number is worn.
The media is the part. Aftermarket sellers publish micron and water-separation claims that differ from each other. Declare genuine or alternative before we quote — they are separate offers, not blended silently.
We do not claim authorized-dealer status for Cummins, Fleetguard or any filter brand. Counterfeit and repacked elements circulate, so buy through a traceable route. How we verify a filter covers the checks.
Request a QuoteIt is a fuel/water separator. It removes water and particulate before the final-stage filter, which protects the injectors. Different numbers, different jobs.
Dealers list FS20038 as the number FS1098 replaces. Confirm the supersession against the housing and the Fleetguard catalogue; they are not interchangeable.
Listings name Cummins B6.7, ISB6.7 and QSB6.7, and L9, ISL9 and ISL8.9, roughly from 2017. Confirm the build and the filter head.
FS1098 is the water-removal stage for Cummins B6.7 and L9 applications; FS20038 is the listed superseded number. The housing and sensor interface decide fitment.
Send the engine build, the housing number and the number from the old element; genuine and alternative offers are quoted separately. Request a quote or send a multi-unit parts list.
