A Perkins oil filter is matched to an engine by its serial or build number, not by the model name alone. The same engine type can carry more than one filter variant, and the number printed on the old filter is the best starting record. A model-only lookup can produce a filter that threads on but does not match the media, bypass valve or anti-drainback design. This page covers oil filters for Perkins-powered generator sets, plant, tractors and marine engines. Confirm the number before you order.

Browse Perkins oil filter numbers for generator, plant, tractor and marine engines. Confirm the engine serial or build and the complete number on the old filter before ordering.
This page covers lube-oil filters for Perkins-powered equipment: spin-on and cartridge, genuine original and declared alternatives. Fuel, air, separation, coolant, crankcase and kits sit on their own pages, including Perkins fuel filters and Perkins filter kits; the Perkins filter range covers the rest.
Fuel filters, air filters, fuel/water separation, coolant, crankcase ventilation and filter kits have their own pages. Aftertreatment and conversion parts are outside this page.
This is not a stock list, price list or fitment certificate. It is a way to check an oil filter before it ships.
With the engine build number and the old filter number, request a quote. We confirm the complete number and the delivery terms line by line.
Perkins states that one part number can fit many engine types, and that more than one variant may be used within one type. The engine serial or build list decides. The table maps the number families you will meet, not a fitment chart — check each row against the parts record for your engine serial.
| Number Family | Form | Catalogues Commonly List It For (Verify) | First Thing to Confirm |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2654403 family | Shorter spin-on | Four-cylinder 1000/1100 and older 4.108/4.236 applications | Engine serial or build; specified number; clearance |
| 2654407 family | Taller spin-on, same mounting thread family | Six-cylinder 6.354 and 1000/1100/1200 applications | Engine serial or build; capacity; clearance |
| 2654408 family | Compact spin-on | Three-cylinder tractor applications such as AD3.152 | Engine code, not tractor model |
| 140517050 family | Compact spin-on | 100/400 Series, including 403/404 variants | Supersession chain; engine build |
| 4627133 / 2654A111 family | Spin-on | Later 1100/1200 common-rail builds | Build; pump type; supersession |
| CH10929 | Cartridge element | 2000/2200/2500 Series | Housing; element; build |
A matching thread and sealing ring do not make two filters equivalent. Media, bypass setting and anti-drainback design can still differ. Distributor catalogues list the 2654403 and 2654407 families with the same mounting thread, but the 2654407 can is taller. Foley Engines describes it as a capacity upgrade on some four-cylinder engines. A field report on a 4.108 installation warns the taller can may foul the injection pump control lever. Treat the swap as a clearance decision, not a free upgrade.
Generator, plant, tractor and marine duty can change the filter arrangement within one engine family. A tractor model is not the engine code, and a low-hour standby set may reach a calendar limit long before an hour limit.
A Massey Ferguson 135 with an AD3.152 and a 165 with a 4.236 are different engine codes, with different filter numbers in the catalogues reviewed. Two machines from the same tractor family can sit on opposite sides of that line.
Confirm the engine codeA low-hour standby generator set can reach its calendar service limit long before its hour limit. The interval comes from the O&M schedule for the engine serial and duty cycle, not from this page.
Hours and calendar, bothOn marine installations, check clearance and the remote filter-head arrangement. The taller 2654407 can may not clear surrounding components on every engine, even where the thread family matches.
Clearance before substitutionDo not set an interval from this page. Confirm the interval in the O&M manual and the warranty terms for your engine serial. Standby duty has its own guidance — see filters for generator sets. This page identifies the questions; the manual answers them.
The old filter carries the number that was actually fitted. Read it before opening a catalogue, and have these details ready when you request a quote.
Read the full number, including any suffix, from the filter body or label — not from a catalogue entry that may have been superseded.
Engine model and full serial or build number from the engine plate. The model badge alone does not identify the filter variant.
Spin-on, cartridge or remote filter head, and where on the engine it sits. The installed role is part of the identification.
Photograph the old filter and the engine plate. Send both when the written record is incomplete or the number is difficult to read.
A thread, diameter or height match does not confirm media, bypass setting, anti-drainback valve or flow. A cross-reference is a candidate to review, not an equivalent.
A quotation for an oil filter list is a review, not a lookup. Each line is checked against the engine record before it is offered, and anything that cannot be confirmed is marked rather than guessed.
The engine model, full serial or build, old filter number or photographs, and the quantity required. Without the full serial, the check starts from the wrong place.
Send the build recordModel alone is not enough — the serial or build list is the reference.
Every line is verified against the parts record and the installed position, not against a catalogue headline. A number that appears compatible is still a candidate until it is confirmed.
Check the positionInstalled role, not just thread and dimension.
The offered filter, whether it is genuine or a declared alternative, the complete number, the quantity and the delivery terms — each line stated, not implied.
Nothing left implicitBrand, status and complete number appear in the quotation.
Anything that cannot be confirmed against the record is flagged, not filled in with a plausible number. A marked line is information; a guessed line is a liability.
No guessed numbersA blank or a flag is better than a wrong number in the quotation.
It depends on the engine serial or build, not the model alone. Read the complete number on the old filter and the engine plate. One number can cover many engine types, and one type can use more than one variant. Confirm against the parts record.
Distributor catalogues list them with the same mounting thread, but the 2654407 can is taller. It adds capacity and may not clear surrounding components on every installation. Confirm the specified number and check clearance before substituting.
No. A cross-reference is a candidate. Thread, diameter, and height can match while media, bypass setting, and anti-drainback design differ. Confirm the complete number against the parts record.
The interval comes from the O&M schedule for your engine serial and duty cycle. Perkins manuals commonly list a standard interval, a shorter severe-duty interval, and a calendar limit for low-hour engines. Confirm your manual and warranty terms.
Yes, if the requirement is declared and the alternative is verified. Compare media, seals, valves, and bypass setting, not dimensions or price. Buy through a traceable route; marketplace bundles are a known counterfeit risk.
Supersessions, build variants, and application-specific arrangements produce different numbers. A number missing from the current record may have been replaced. Send both records; the difference is information, not an error.
Send the engine model, full build number, old filter number and a photo of the label. We will confirm the offered filter, its complete number and the delivery terms line by line.
